Do not travel & Avoid non-essential travel
– updates to travel advisories.
On Friday 17th August 2018, the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade changed the language they use to describe their travel advisory levels.
Under our policy, there is no cover for any claims, costs or losses arising from or related to:
- Events for which a ‘Extreme risk’ or ‘High risk’ advisory has been issued by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade on their website (safetravel.govt.nz), or have been reported in the media, before you purchased your policy.
- You travelling to a country for which the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade has issued a ‘Extreme risk’ or ‘High risk’ advisory on their website (safetravel.govt.nz) before the start of your holiday.
These exclusions now apply to the ‘Do not travel’ and ‘Avoid non-essential travel’ travel advisory levels.
For more information on the new travel advisories from the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, please see their website here. To view our policy wording about travel advisories, please refer to page 25 of the PDS issued 9 April 2018 here.
